Dubai Frame wins best leisure tourism project award

Dubai, 22 April 2019: Dubai Frame has won the best leisure tourism project award at the MEED Projects Awards in association with Mashreq Bank, where the project won recognition as the national winner in the UAE. The recognition is in line with Dubai Municipality’s vision of building a happy and sustainable city through the development of leisure and public attractions.

The award underscores the unique position it occupies among tourist and urban attractions around the world and its exceptional and attractive design that has caught the attention of a large number of visitors to Dubai.

Eng. Talib Julfar, CEO of Infrastructure Services Sector at Dubai Municipality, said: “Dubai Frame comes from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish Dubai as a global cultural, recreational and tourist destination. We, at Dubai Municipality, are keen to launch unique projects and to highlight the leadership of Dubai in various fields by adhering to strategies and foundations that contribute to achieving the desired objectives.”

He added that it is a remarkable achievement for Dubai Frame to receive this award as we seek to enrich the city with projects that highlight the city’s unique urban development and our belief in the importance of providing excellent attractive tourist landmarks and draw a large number of visitors.

Julfar stressed that Dubai Frame has become one of the most modern cultural and entertainment attractions in the country since its opening in January 2018 and had attracted more than a million visitors from around the world within the first year of its opening.

“It represents a magnificent landmark that captures fascinating scenes of Dubai’s old and modern city within one frame to form a bridge linking the emirate’s past with its flourishing present. The most important feature of the Dubai Frame is the unique upper bridge, where the visitors’ walkway has been designed with smart glass panels to create a transparent floor and as soon as you walk it will give the visitor the sensation of walking on the air and enjoy a unique view of the area surrounding the elevator from the top,” he pointed out.

Last year Dubai Frame was awarded the Excellence Award at the Fourth Theme Parks and Entertainment Development Forum and the Best Performance of the Year Award at the Aspire Summit.
