Dubai, 13 March 2019: Dubai Municipality has bagged first place in the Energy Management Leadership Awards (ISO 50001) among all government and private companies in the UAE for implementing best practices in energy management in 2018.

The Municipality received the award based on an assessment conducted by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) which supports the best practices to promote the transition to a global clean energy economy in the governments in the world.

Dubai Municipality’s achievement is in line with its strategy of protecting the environment and sustaining its natural resources.

“Dubai Municipality’s participation in the Energy Management Leadership Awards promotes the use of clean energy technologies and sharing them with the world. These technologies, combined with supportive policies, can significantly reduce carbon pollution from traditional fossil fuels, improve local air quality, create job opportunities, enhance energy security, and improved access to energy worldwide,” said Jabir Al Ali, Director of General Maintenance Department.

“Dubai Municipality has increased the use of clean energy by one and a half million over six years and has contributed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2087.2 metric tons to improve energy efficiency and promote clean energy supplies and expand energy access by harnessing solar power, wind power and other renewable resources. Other technologies can enable the use of more efficient renewable energy systems in buildings, factories and vehicles to maintain a clean and sustainable environment,” he said.
